Church Baptismal Fonts Along the Camino

Chris and John visited every church they could find open along the Camino. Chris became intrigued with the baptismal fonts in each church. Almost all were carved from one piece of stone. Most of the fonts were the oldest work of art in the church or chapel. The most unusual was the ancient looking one that was in the churchyard/cemetery opposite the church front doors. In a few places the font was in a back corner with the cleaning supplies. One heavenly font was in it’s own room with a glorious stained glass window above it with the Camino symbol of a scallop shell.

Enjoy our photos of these stone carved fonts where the first sacrament of baptism in the Catholic Faith is performed.
