Camino Day Eight- Rest Day in Logrono

Boy did we need a rest day. I had come down with a head cold and fever and loved our 11 hour sleep. Woke up and moved slowly. First was Mail Boxes Etc. to rid ourselves of 15 pounds of stuff- clothes and coats and books and souvenirs purchased so far.

First religious stop was the Cathedral de Santa Maria de Redonda. This 15th century is more than magnificent, and though we will see more famous ones on the Camino, none will be more beautiful.

Then a short walk through the city market and a stop at a Farmacia. I have a terrible rash ( heat rash and/or viral rash) on my legs and arms. Stocked up on hydrocortisone and fungal cream. No more shorts and short sleeves for me for a while.

We made it back to the hotel and caught a cab to a wonderful wine tasting at Bodegas Valdemar. We came across this winery at a Pintxos Restaurant in Woodinville! Using a connection, we got to have tasting and the woman who served us was delightful!

Cab back to the room and rest before a Tapas Crawl on Laurel Street. After four different Tapas Bars we filled up rather quickly on Mushrooms, sausage sandwiches, eggplant, and calamari. We had a yummy ice cream waking home slowly and hit the sack by 9:30.

I felt better but thought I’d need taxi in the morning. Slept well and the Mariners won- Cal Raleigh hit #55 and #56 homeruns…so great to wake up to if we can’t watch. Helps to energize us!
